MONTREAL – The Canadian Football League held its second of three regional combines today in Montreal, resulting in 5 players being invited to the CFL Combine presented by Reebok in Toronto this coming weekend.
Players Travis Bent, Guillaume G. Bourassa, Alexandre Dupuis, Francis Lapointe and Nigel Romick were extended an invitation to display their athletic abilities once again in front of CFL scouts, coaches and management at the National CFL Combine in Toronto, March 21-23.
Concordia linebacker, Travis Bent from Ajax, ON showed off his athletic abilities by having the second most reps in the bench press drill among linebackers with 19 and tied for the fastest 40-yard time among linebackers with 4.90.
A pair of running backs received invites, Guillaume G. Bourassa and Alexandre Dupuis. Laval running back Bourassa a native of La Tuque, QC ran a 4.83 in the 40-yard dash (best among running backs) and had 18 reps in the bench press drill (second most among running backs). Alexandre Dupuis who was the running back for University of Montreal and native of Montreal, QC recorded the second most reps in the entire combine with 23 and ran his 40-yard run in 5.15.
Sherbrooke wide receiver Francis Lapointe tied for the fastest 40-yard time at the Montreal combine with 4.70. The native of Mont-Tremblant, QC had the highest vertical among receivers with 34 inches.
Nigel Romick, a defensive lineman from Saint Mary’s led all defensive lineman at the combine in the 3-cone, shuttle and vertical drills. The native of Thunder Bay, ON also ran the second fastest 40-yard time among defensive lineman (5.00) and finished second in his position with 17 reps in the bench press drill.
Overall, 42 players attended today’s combine in Montreal and each athlete worked out in front of scouts from all CFL Teams.

In total, after two Regional Combines,10 players were extended an invitation to the National CFL Combine (5 each from Edmonton and Montreal).
The final regional combine will take place tomorrow in Toronto
The 2014 National CFL Combine presented by Reebok kicks off Friday afternoon with player arrivals, medicals and team interviews. On Saturday the players’ strength, athleticism and flexibility will be tested at the Park Hyatt Toronto Hotel. The camp finishes on the football field at Varsity Centre at the University of Toronto campus on Sunday. Stay tuned to CFL.ca for all your CFL Combine results and news.

As it stands now, there will be 47 players in Toronto for the National CFL Combine with the final regional combine taking place tomorrow.
