Mount Allison’s team atmosphere “incredible” says Oshawa recruit (VIDEO)

Oshawa defensive back joins AUS team’s 2016 class.

When he took in a recruiting visit at one campus, Randy O’Connor was hooked and realized it was the place to for him to be for his CIS career.

Recently, the 5’9, 175 pound defensive back from Oshawa, Ontario committed to Mount Allison Mounties. Β O’Connor will join the team for the 2016 season.

“I decided to commit to Mount Allison because I feel like the smaller classes will help me achieve more academically,” explained the defensive standout of his decision. Β “The recruiting trip helped my decision a lot.”

“The atmosphere of the team was incredible. The players and coaches are more than just a team, they’re a family which ultimately drew me to my decision to commit. Having members of the staff being past players stood out to me as it showed just how the tradition of the program was and what it meant to be a Mountie.”

As captain of the Paul Dwyer Saints, O’Connor helped the team win the OFSAA Eastern Bowl this past November as well as the team’s second straight Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (LOSSAA) Championship.

This upcoming summer, the defensive back will play alongside fellow Mountie recruits Terrell Connell and Aidan McKenna as a member of the Oshawa Hawkeyes of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
