As the recruiting season continues to heat up around the CIS, the Mount Allison University football program is excited to announce the addition of five more players to their 2011 recruiting class. The new additions feature four defensive players and one offensive player.
The addition of these five players brings the Mounties to a total of 17 commitments so far. Of the 17 commits, 11 are from the Maritimes. βWe are fully committed to building a championship program around the best players from Atlantic Canadaβ, said Mountiesβ Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey. βOur recent success has also allowed us to recruit some of the best players from across the country and these five additions demonstrate that Mount Allison is becoming an attractive option to young student-athletes nationwide.β
The new commits are expected to help solidify the Mounties defense for years to come. βWe came into this offseason with a goal to solidify our defense, especially the front seven, for the next 4 yearsβ said Jeffrey. βWe want to build a fast, physical defense and all of these recruits will be an excellent fit in our defense, our football program, and the Mount Allison community.β
The Mounties will continue to build on what is already one of their best recruiting classes in recent memory. Jeffrey expects to announce several more commits in the coming weeks, stating that βthe response we have received from recruits thus far has been excellent; itβs clear that many players are anxious to be a part of New Brunswickβs football team.β
