The Mount Allison Mounties football program is releasing the names of 17 more players who have committed to attend Mount Allison University this fall.
The addition of these 17 players brings the Mounties 2011 recruiting class to a total of 34 players. The latest additions continue to reflect Coach Jeffreyβs vision for the future of the Mounties football program. βWe continue to build our program around the belief that you can achieve national-level success with the very best players from Atlantic Canada. The Mounties are New Brunswickβs football team and this recruiting class is a strong reflection of that.β
While the Mounties continue to focus on recruiting the best players in the Maritimes, their recent success has also allowed them to experience a great deal of success recruiting across Canada as well. βI think that we have done an excellent job recruiting nationwide and filling specific needs in our program. At the beginning of the off-season, we said that we wanted to get bigger and more athletic in the secondary and the additions of both Donovan Saunders and Kwame Adjei are an excellent step in the directionβ, said Jeffrey. βWe have also been very fortunate to add some size and athleticism along the offensive and defensive lines and the additions of Jon Graves and Richard Smith, along with Top 100 prospects Paul Sibley and Jacob LeBlanc, will help us win the war in the trenches for years to come.β
As the recruiting season begins to wind-down, the Mounties coaching staff believes that they are very close to signing a number of other prospects and will likely welcome about 40 new recruits to the Sackville campus this fall. As Coach Jeffrey and his staff continue to polish-off what is already one of the best recruiting classes in recent Mountie history, they have already begun plans for the 2012 recruiting class. βJust as we did this year, we will target the very best players in Atlantic Canada who want to be a part of Canadaβs top-ranked undergraduate university, possess the type of character that we want in our program, and most importantly, will help us reach our goal of winning an AUS Championship.β
