Mounties introduce first wave of 2018 commits

Mounties add 12 commits to their 2018 class.

While the Mount Allison Mounties were navigating the recruitment waters without a head coach for most of the year, they are ready to make a splash with their new head coach, Peter Fraser, and their first wave of commits.

“We are very excited to welcome these young men to the Mount Allison football family.  I would like to thank Coach Richard and Coach Hopkins for their hard work recruiting this talented group of players,” Fraser said. “I look forward to seeing them working hard both on the football field and in the class room for years to come.”

Caleb Melanson (5’11, 190lbs) – quarterback from the Horton High School Griffins (Kentville, NS)

Sanjay Grover (5’10, 195lbs) – quarterback and athlete from the Medicine Hat High School Mohawks (Medicine Hat, AB)

• 2016 team captain
• 2016 league all-star
• Medicine Hat Mohawks’ coaches award for excellent on the field and classroom
• Led his team to victory in the city, league and south-zone championship games with 22 touchdowns on the season
• 2017 Canada Prep Raiders’ captain

Jordan Melo (6’2, 210lbs) – linebacker from the King City Secondary School Lions (Schomberg, ON)

• Played both offensive and defensive roles

Brad Blizzard (6’0, 200lbs) – receiver from the Hampton High School Huskies (Hampton, NB)

• Started in grade 11 as a defensive end and running back
• 2016 defensive lineman of the year
• 2017 Team New Brunswick starting receiver
• 2017 NBIAA all-star

Nick Wenman (5’11, 185lbs) – quarterback from the Okanagan Sun (Kelowna, BC)

• Finished 2^nd in the BCFC (CJFL) with 16 passing touchdowns and 4 rushing
• Threw over 1,500 yards

David Patry (5’10, 180lbs) – quarterback and athlete from the École L’Odyssée Olympiens (Moncton, NB)

• Team New Brunswick captain

• 2014 NBHSFL MVP
• Three-time MVP and offensive player of the game at the 2015 Football Canada Cup

Logan McHugh (6’3, 190lbs) – receiver from the Oromocto High School Blues (Oromocto, NB)

Brendon Seymour (6’5, 305lbs) – offensive lineman from the University of New Brunswick Red Bombers (Fredericton, NB)
