MTA adds to coaching staff

The Mount Allison Mounties football program is pleased to announce that former CFL player and AUS MVP Kyle Graves will join the coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Graves, from Barrie, ON played his university football at Acadia University where, as quarterback, he led the Axemen to back to back AUS Championships in 2011 and 2012. Graves was named AUS MVP during both of Acadia’s championship seasons. Graves was also named a CIS (now U SPORTS) All-Canadian as both a quarterback and as a punter.

Following his AUS career Graves found success in the CFL where he converted to a receiver. Graves played 4 seasons with the Montreal Alouettes before playing 1 season with the Toronto Argonauts.

“We are extremely excited to announce that Kyle Graves will be joining the Mount Allison football program,” commented Mounties Head Coach Peter Fraser. “Kyle will bring a lot of energy and experience to the program he will also be a great mentor and leader to our young group on offence. The 5 years playing in the CFL and his pedigree as a player in the AUS combined with his coaching experience made it an easy decision to add him to the staff. Having coached Kyle, I know what kind of quality person we are getting and I have a great deal of trust in him. Kyle will call the plays on offence, coordinate our passing attack and coach our QB’s.”

As a coach, Graves was part of the offensive coaching staff for Acadia when they won the AUS championship in 2017. Graves graduated from Acadia University with a BSc in Geology in 2012.
