MTA atmosphere, coaches attracts 1

Mounties welcome one out-of-province commit to their 2019 class.

When Elijah Ifill, a defensive back from Football North St. Joes, joins the Mount Allison Mounties, it will be a reunion of sorts.

β€œI chose to commit to Mount A because of the small-school atmosphere and a lot of my teammates I’ve played with in the past play on Mount A as well, so I think it’s a great fit for me,” he said.

Ifill, who is interested in psychology, added that he thinks the Mounties coaches are great. β€œ(They) are invested in making their players better, which is another reason (why) I chose this school,” he said.

Standing at 5’9, 170lbs, Ifill has spent his entire career in his hometown of Ottawa, Ontario. He has played for the Ottawa Myers Riders (OVFL), the Bell Warriors (NCAFA), the Nepean Eagles (NCAFA) and Football North. In 2015, the six-year veteran helped the Riders to an OVFL championship off of a 11-0 season.

Ready to head out east, Ifill said, β€œI’m very excited to get on the field and become a better player every day.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
