BLOG: Mustangs

My name is Taylor MacDonald and I have been playing football in Nova Scotia for about 7 years now. This year Nova Scotia spring league changed into an indoor football league. It’s pretty cool to play there, as the weather is not a factor, and it is just a different atmosphere. There Is 5 teams in the league, and I play for the Metro Mustangs, which is a combination of high school players from C.P.A, Lockview and Sackville. We are doing very well this year, as we are 5-0 and are preparing to play in the finals this Saturday against our rivals the Timberlea renegades. Last year we faced them in the finals, but lost, so we all want some redemption. Last time we faced each other was in week 1, and as always it was a really physical game, with strong defensive efforts by both teams. By the end of the game it was 23-23, and Timberlea had the ball with 3 or so seconds left. While everyone was getting ready to go into halftime, one of the craziest plays I’ve witnessed in my career happened. Their quarterback scrambled around for a while and heaved up the ball. DB Matt Bayne intercepted it around half, and with a few good blocks he returned it to the house with no time left and we won 29-23. So this weekend we all know Timberlea will be hungry to get us back, and it should be an interesting game. For the first time in a while everyone is healthy, and we are preparing hard this next week for the big game.
