Nanaimo recruit headed for the Prairies (VIDEO)

Nanaimo defensive back joins CWUAA team’s 2015 class.

Jeremie Cheng will be moving to the Prairies to begin the next gridiron and academic chapters.

Recently, the 5’8, 165 pound defensive back from Nanaimo, British Columbia signed with the Calgary Dinos.  Cheng will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“I committed to Calgary because it is a very good school for academics and has a great football team,” explained Cheng of his decision.  “The academic support for the football players was also a huge reason I chose this school.”

“I believe that the coaching staff and players will help me improve a lot as a person and a football player.”

Cheng comes to the Dinos after completing his career with Nanaimo District Islanders of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).  This past season, he was selected as a BCHSFA Western Conference ‘AA’ All-Star as he led the conference with 90 tackles as well as amassed 709 rushing yards on 96 carries and five touchdowns.  Throughout his career, Cheng has played at the running back, linebacker and defensive back (strong safety) positions.
