Spencer began his gridiron journey in grade nine with high school team, Strathroy Saints of the Thames Valley Regional Athletic Association (TVRAA).Β Β  In addition to the Saints, the defensive lineman has suited up for the London Jr Mustangs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

β€œMy most memorable moment is just being out on the field and playing, learning different techniques from different coaches and incorporating them in my game style,” reflects the Saints standout of his gridiron career.

Throughout his career, Spencer has been recognized for his play.Β  Among the honours he’s received include Team MVP, two Defensive and four Lineman MVP Awards.

Moreover, the Saints standout is ranked on the CFC 100.Β  Overall, he is surprised but humbled by the recognition.

β€œHonestly, I don’t even know what my rank is and it doesn’t really matter to me,” explains Spencer. β€œI’m not playing to be ranked number one, I’m playing to have fun and get an education out of it.”

One of the reasons why Spencer has been able to achieve gridiron success comes from the countless hours he spends training his quest to become a better player.

β€œI work out four times a week then head to practice where we train skill and foot work and agility and then I watch film in my free time learning what the opposing team’s plays are,” describes the Saints lineman of his training regimen.

Additionally, he credits his family for providing encouragement and motivation which enables him to succeed on and off the field.

β€œI don’t want to let them down so I keep pushing myself to make them proud,” expresses Spencer.

As for future plans, the Saints standout has career and academic aspirations.

β€œMy future is to use football to get an education but if the opportunity comes my way to play at the next level above university, I’m going to strive for it,” says Spencer.Β  β€œAs for what type of career I want it is going into law.”

While he has not committed to a school as of yet, Spencer has taken in official visits with two OUA schools – Western and McMaster.Β  Overall, he is content with how the recruitment process has gone so far.

β€œRecruitment has been going well,” reflects the CFC 100 standout.Β  β€œI still have new universities coming and saying there interested in me.”

β€œThe challenging part is trying to narrow schools down and trying to find the best one for me. The exciting part is finding out that I’m ranked so high on university recruiting list I’ve been told countless times that I’m on universities lists of the top three players they want the most.”

Spencer credits the game for giving him invaluable education on how to tackle all gridiron and life endeavours.

β€œThe only thing I can really say for sure is that its kept me to have an open mind and that if a teacher tries telling you something, you should listen to what they have to say,” adds the CFC 100 lineman.
