NCAA Canadian profile: Philip Blake, CFL scouting bureau #1 draft ranked (Toronto)

1) For those Canadians who do not already know, talk a little bit about how you got to where you are right now.

It was a very long road but I always stayed on it. Transferred from Monsignor Percy Johnson to Father Henry Carr and played a year there. Referred by a friend from high school to play with the Etobicoke Eagles in the OVFL. Played two years and Champlain regional college in Lennoxville Quebec where I was recruited by Coach Art Briles. Went to Tyler Junior college where I played a year and then transferred to Baylor University.

2) What is the best thing about playing NCAA Football? What is the most challenging thing?

The atmosphere of NCAA football is something special and an amazing experience.

3) What is your biggest individual goal for 2010 season? Team goal?

Getting better at my new position and be the best I can be.. our team goal is a bowl game victory.

4) What is something that people should know about you?

I never gave up on my dream.

5) What advice do you have to young football players in Canada?

Never give up or settle for anything!

6) How do you feel about being the #1 ranked player by the CFL scouting bureau for the 2011 draft?

It’s a great honor being ranked period but being #1 makes it even more special. My family is very excited and my decision and work are paying off.
