NCAA: Simon Fraser Clan release 2011 playing schedule – no Shrum Bowl?

Burnaby, B.C. – The schedule for the Simon Fraser University Clan football team’s 2011 fall season has been released. The Clan will open their second season in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference on September 10, versus the Western Oregon University Wolves.

The Clan will also have two non-conference games in their schedule, as they will travel south of the border to play the Pacific University Boxers on September 3 and the Southern Oregon University Raiders on October 22. SFU squared off against Southern Oregon last season in an exhibition tilt, dropping a 31-18 decision.

After hosting Western Oregon in their home opener on September 10, the Clan hit the road for a date with Dixie State College on September 17 before returning home a week later to welcome Humboldt State to Terry Fox Field. A week after that, the Clan will travel to Central Washington University to meet the Wildcats, who finished atop the GNAC standings in 2010.

The Clan’s 10-game schedule currently does not include a cross-town clash with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds. As of right now, a fixed date for a Shrum Bowl matchup has not been announced.
