NCAFA (Ottawa): Historic night in Gatineau

Last night was the first night of NCAFA championship weekend 2011. This is the first time in 55 years of the NCAFA that the Championship Week is being held outside of Ottawa, and the host group hopes to honour the long standing league tradition by inviting everyone over to Mont Bleu Stadium for this year’s events.

The Raiders Mosquito team defeated the Cornwall Wildcats 58-28 for the Sullivan β€œC” cup championship.

The Gatineau Vikings, who are hosting the event this year, fielded a 42-6 Victory over the Kanata Knights Peewee squad.

This is Historic in that the Gatineau Vikings who in their 6 years of participation in the league have appeared in 3 A cup finals and a C final, but were never able to bring home the Win in those games. This year the Peewee’s have clinched the first ever Cup final for the Vikings, and the Tyke team will return to the A cup again this year hoping to have a better outcome than last year’s loss to Bell Warriors.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
