Newest Husky

Lawson Morassutti is beginning his CIS career in Halifax.

The 6ā€™0, 215 pound linebacker from Aurora, Ontario has committed to the Saint Maryā€™s Huskies for the 2014 AUS season.

The opportunity to come to Atlantic Canadaā€™s Ocean Playground as well as play under Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese was too good of an offer to pass up.

ā€œThe reason I chose Saint Mary’s is because I love the fact that it is in the heart of Halifax which is an amazing city,ā€ explained Morassutti of his decision.Ā  ā€œI just felt that they made the process easy and I really felt at home.ā€

ā€œAlso, they kept in contact with me and kept me in the loop the whole time. Coach Perry (Marchese) really made me feel that Saint Mary’s was the place for me and I couldn’t be happier to be a Husky.ā€

This past season, the linebacker helped the Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) to their second consecutive OFSAA Bowl Championship.Ā  Previous to the Warriors, Morassutti played four years with Dr. GW Williams Wildcats of the YRAA. Additionally, he suited up for the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) for 11 seasons.

ā€œWe are very happy to have Lawson join us at Saint Mary’s,ā€ commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.Ā  ā€œHe is a great addition to the family.”
