Recently, the 6’0 205 pound linebacker from Brampton, Ontario committed to the York Lions for the 2014 OUA season.

Toku met Gagnon, Lions Special Teams Coordinator and Linebackers Coach, after an exhibition game and the rest was history.

β€œI first met Coach Ray Gagnon and he immediately expressed interest and we remained in touch ever since,” recalled Toku.Β  β€œWhen they had me come down for my visit, I immediately had a feeling that I would be calling York home for the next four to five years.”

β€œThe situation in which I would be entering would be favorable to me with an early chance to compete at a starting position, that’s close to home and offers my program.”

β€œI almost gave up after my 2012 high school season, breaking a bone in my left hand during our ROPSSAA Championship Game in which had me in a cast for almost four months doctors believed I would need surgery but through physio it managed to heal itself,” added Toku.Β  β€œComing into my last season of high school football, β€œI had a lot to prove not only to myself but to everyone else too, after a successful season in which came up short against the Campion Bears in a tie-breaker game.”
