Newmarket recruit heading to Nation’s Capital

Newmarket defensive back/quarterback joins OUA team’s 2015 class.

The Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Assocation (YRAA) has announced that Luke Griese has committed to the Ottawa Gee-Gees football program.

The 5’11, 185 pound defensive back/quarterback from Newmarket, Ontario will join the Gee-Gees for the 2015 OUA season.

Griese has been recognized for his play on the field.  Among the honours he has received during his career include Ontario Prospect Challenge All-Star selection in 2013 as well as two consecutive YRAA All-Star selections (2013-2014).

In additon to the Warriors, Griese has suited up for the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“In 2014, while handling duties as a starting corner, Luke also stepped under center to quarterback Huron’s much vaunted Triple Option attack,” said the Huron Heights Warriors in a release.  “Luke ran for more than a 1000 yards while leading the Warriors to a 9-1 record and a spot in the YRAA Championship.”

“The Warriors would like to congratulate Luke on becoming the newest Ottawa Gee-Gee!”
