Newmarket recruit sold on SMU’s reputation

Newmarket lineman recently joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

Saint Mary’s Huskies have announced the commitment of Mike Del Tin to their football program.

Del Tin, the 5’11, 255 pound offensive lineman (center) from Newmarket, Ontario comes to the Huskies after completing his high school career with Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA).  This past season, he was selected as an YRAA All-Star.

He will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

“We are extremely happy to add a student athlete like Mike to the SMU football family,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.

Ultimately, the Huskies’ reputation weighed heavily in Del Tin’s decision.  Moreover, his official visit to the Halifax, Nova Scotia campus sealed the deal for the lineman.

“I had heard many good things about Saint Mary’s from a few of the players that I know from high school that are currently playing there now,” elaborated Del Tin of his decision.  “After going out there, meeting the coaches and listening to what they had to say, touring the school and the city of Halifax I knew I wanted to go to SMU to better my education and continue playing the sport I love.”
