NFC: Sam McBeath hopes to enter Steel City Patriots in 2012 NFC

The soon to formed “Steel City Patriots” held a press conference last week in which the “team” stated their intention bid to join The Northern Football Conference beginning in 2012.

The teams President Sam McBeath said in a statement that the team is having great success in recruiting players from the area and have not had to look for players as they are contacting the team on a daily basis and they plan to carry a maximum of 60 players with only 5 players coming from within the league and even then only after all protocols have been followed including any and all issues with former team are cleared if any and the team must sign a release to even talk to us.

MacBeath says they’ve already raised the $3,000 expansion fee. They’ve got a major sponsor. They’ve got a field at Mohawk Sports Park. They’ve got uniform colours and a logo. They’ve chosen Steel City Steelers’ defensive co-ordinator Phil Cosentini as their first head coach. They’ve got a website that’s been generating plenty of hits and dozens of guys interested in trying out. He says they’ve even had positive feedback from some past and present CFLers. Player fees will be $425 per year.

They are looking forward to the opportunity to place their bid on November 19th in Barrie and feel they have already answered all of the areas listed on the expansion package and look forward to being a part of The 2012 season.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
