ONT (NOSSA): Valiquette catapults CFC #39 Trojans to first title since 1995

CFC#39 West Ferris Trojans overcame an 18 point deficit to win their first Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) Championship title since 1995.

The team edged Superior Heights Seahawks 22-21.

This capped off a Cinderella season for the Trojans, who were 9-0 heading into the final

In the fourth quarter, pivot Matt Valiquette had a 1 yard quarterback sneak to catapult the Trojans to the victory.  Valiquette was successful after the Trojans were stopped by the Steelhawks on three consecutive tries to get into the end zone for the score.

On the final of the game, the Steelhawks attempted a 37 yard field goal with one minute remaining, but the kick was wide and the Trojans ran it out of the end zone to prevent the rouge.

Colin Trach and Zach Delorme tallied majors for the Trojans while Riley Anderson was successful on two conversion attempts.  On defense, Marc Rancourt caught an interception at the goal line during the game.

As for the Steelhawks, Steven Hiiemaa scored two touchdowns while Mike Bogensberger tallied a major.  Brady Smith was successful on two conversion attempts.

With this victory, the Trojans advance to the OFSAA Bowl Series, where the team will face the winner of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) on Friday November 27th, 2013 in Etobicoke.
