Nova Scotia: Citadel 3-peat, Spartan OT thriller


Nova Scotia high school tier 1 and tier 2 championships took place on the weekend. Sir John A MacDonald Flames took on Citadel Phoenix in tier 1. The Dartmouth Spartans played the Cobequid Cougars in tier 2.

TIER 1

Citadel won their third Tier 1 title in a row, defeating Sir John A 45 to 7. In their three playoff victories they outscored their opponents 160 to 14.

QB Jesse Mills (CFC ‘top QBs) was 15 of 20 for 286 yards. Running back Dechaun Beals chiped in with 12 carries for 130 yards and a TD. Adre Fraser scored on a punt return and Derek Brown and Chris Brown each had TD receptions. Jeremy Ford had a field goal and 6 converts.

On defense for the Phoenix, William Zed led the way with 9 tackles and a 40 yard pick six.

TIER 2

Dartmouth Spartans relied on an overtime punt single to win 29 to 28 and claim the tier 2 nova scotia title.

In the loss CEC running back Jordan Lauthier scored a pair of TD and had 145 yards on 37 carries.
