Nova Scotia high school opens with a 72 to 0 rout and 24 to 20 thriller (Sept 10)


After Hurricane Earl forced officials to postpone week 1 of the nova scotia high school football season, the players finally got to the field last night.

The 2009 provincial runner-ups, Sackville Kingfishers, survived a scare from Halifax West, overcoming an 8 point halftime deficit to win 24 to 20. Connor MacNamara led the Sackville ground attack with 17 carries for 120 yards and one touchdown, while receiver Cody Timmons gained 80 yards on four catches, including one major. Quarterback Jordan Pertus completed nine of 17 passes for 144 yards. Devon Marshall and Nick Gabriel had strong defensive efforts for the Kingfishers.

In the other game on Thursday night CP Allen destroyed Avon View 74 to 0. CPs Stephen Crossland had 3 scores and 132 yards rushing and QB Collin Swinney threw 3 TD strikes. Receivers Chris Strum, Jordan Koch, and defensive back Brandon DeCoste had majors for the CP Cheetahs. Louis Stephen, Chase Kadejos and Matt Ryan also chipped in.

Other games this weekend see the CFC #17 Citadel Phoenix open against Horton high school on sunday. Below is the rest of this weekends games.
