Oakville Titans off to championship game

Wednesday night, July 28, under the lights at Notre Dame Secondary school field, the last place tier two team, took on the first place Oakville Titans. The match was an exciting score for score game, 21-20 for Oakville until the end of the third quarter when the Oakville squad broke open the scoring with two punt returns for touchdowns taking their score to 43. The Stamps showing strength of character, didnā€™t give up and finished strong, scoring with less than a minute left in the fourth, finishing the game 45-27.

ā€œIt was amazing to see the effort these players put forth having played a game only three days earlier,ā€ said Ken Looker, head coach. ā€œThere is no quit in these kids, they had lots of reasons why they might have wanted to give up, but they didnā€™t.ā€

The Stamps offence put up the most points of any game this season. Jonathon Howard scored two majors, one a 60-yard run, contributing to the 156 rushing yards. Carson Neddow ran for 47 and had a 20-yard catch, and Troy Downton had a completion to scrambled to the end zone for another, finishing the game with a TD pass to Charlie White. The offensive line came together to have terrific pass protection and blocking to make the points possible.

The defence was hungry to get the ball back in Stampeders possession. Brett Colangelo had two interceptions and three tackles, Shakim Bennett had another pick and seven tackles, Matthew Baker had four tackles, and Jude Armson had five and caught a two point conversion. White and Howard contributed on defence as well and had a sack and three tackles each.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
