OBIT: CFL Hall of Famer Jim Taylor passes

On Monday, Jim Taylor, 82, passed away. In 1955, he started his journalism career for the Times Colonist for 10 years, the Vancouver Sun for 13 years, and the Province for 17 years. He also wrote for the Calgary Sun. In 2001, he retired.

He covered the 1963 Grey Cup at Empire Stadium in Vancouver, featuring the B.C. Lions. He was inducted into the CFL sports Hall of Fame and Museum, Football Reporters of Canada wing in 1989.

Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Jim spent his teen years in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he used to sneak into Osborne Stadium to watch the Blue Bombers.

He cut his journalistic teeth in Victoria, British Columbia with the Colonial before moving to the big time in Vancouver in 1966 where he worked for the Sun and then for the Province.

Jim has written two sports books and his sense of humour is his stock and trade.
