OFC Players of the Week #3: Johnson, Beekhuis and Medeiros

These are the Week 3 Ontario Football Conference (OFC) Players of the Week:

OFFENSIVE:Β Β #5 Kyle Johnson – QB – Hamilton Hurricanes
23-34 for 320 yards and 3 TD, in a 46-18 victory over the Brampton Bears

Kyle Johnson, 3rdΒ Year QB led the Hurricanes to a big win over the visiting Brampton Bears on Saturday. The Police Foundations student at Mohawk College was 23-34 for 320 yards, with 3 touchdowns and a pass efficiency of 127.1 on the day. Kyle will try to lead the Hurricanes to their third consecutive victory, when they travel to play the Twin Cities Predators on Friday evening at 7:30pm at Knight-Newbrough Field in Waterloo.

DEFENSIVE:Β Β #10 Mason Beekhuis – LB – Windsor AKO Fratmen
6 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, in a 25-11 victory over the Ottawa Sooners

Mason Beekhuis, 3rdΒ Year LB from Sandwich SS in La Salle had a an amazing all-around performance in the Fratmen’s 25-11 victory over the Ottawa Sooners. Beekhuis led the defense with 6 solo tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble amassing 17 defensive points. Along with his defensive mates, Beekhuis and company held the Sooners to a mere 93 total yards on the day. The Fratmen will look to knock off the London Beefeaters this Saturday afternoon at 1pm at TD Waterhouse Stadium in a match-up of two undefeated teams.

SPECIAL TEAMS:Β Β #75 Zach Medeiros – K – London Beefeaters
P: 7-279, 39.9 avg. – K/O: 3-173 – FG: 2-4 in 23-22 victory over the Burlington Braves

Zach Medeiros, 3rdΒ Year, P/PK from St. Joseph’s SS in St. Thomas had a game every kicker dreams of. Zach nailed a 32 yard FG with just 6 seconds remaining to give the visiting Beefeaters a dramatic 23-22 come-from-behind victory over the Burlington Braves. On the night, Zach was good on 2 of 4 FG’s, had 7 punts for 279 yards, 3 kick-offs for 173, and was 1 for 1 on converts. Zach will try and help the ‘Beefs remain perfect on the season when they host the undefeated Windsor AKO Fratmen on Saturday at 1pm at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
