OFC Players of the Week 4: Francis, Vanmeppelenscheppink, Lumley


Offensive: #14 Matt Francis – QB – Hamilton Hurricanes

21 of 30 for 305 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT, in a 27-10 win over Ottawa Sooners Matt Francis, 3rd Year, QB out of Churchill HS, had a terrific day throwing the ball completing 70% of his passes for 305
yards and 4 TD’s.

The Mohawk College graduate completed passes to 6 different receivers on the day, and threw touchdown passes to Shawn Ward, Matt Coates, and Dan Iafrate with 2. Matt will help lead the 1st place Hurricanes into a showdown with the St. Leonard Cougars on Saturday at 4pm at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Defensive: #32 Chris Vanmeppelenscheppink – DB – London Beefeaters

4 Solo Tackles, 1 Assist, 1 Pass Defended, 1 Forced Fumble, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 17 Total Defensive Points, in 19-12 win over Twin Cities Predators Chris Vanmeppelenscheppink, 4th Year, DB out of St. Thomas Parkside Collegiate, helped lead the Beefeaters defensively
in their come from behind win in Waterloo over the Twin Cities Predators. The 2010 All-Canadian DB had 5 tackles, including 4 solos, 1 pass break-up, forced a fumble, and recovered 2 fumbles on the way to 17 defensive points. This is the 3rd consecutive season that Chris has won Defensive Player of the Week honors, as he won for the weeks of: Aug. 22,
2009 and Aug. 21, 2010. The All-Canadian will try and help lead the Beefeaters when they host the Ottawa Sooners.

Game time is set for 8pm on Saturday at TD Waterhouse Stadium.

Special Teams: #3 Beau Lumley – RB – Windsor AKO Fratmen

3 Punt Returns for 90 yards, 1 K/O Return for 14 yards, 15 rushes for 98 yards and a TD, 1 reception for 9 yards, 211 all purpose yards, in 28-14 win over Burlington Braves
Beau Lumley, 1st Year, RB out of Herman HS in Windsor, had 3 punt returns for 90 yards, including one for 65 yards. He also had 1 kickoff return for 14 yards, 15 rushes for 98 yards including a 33-yard TD, and 1 reception for 9 yards. For the 2nd straight week the Herman HS grad broke the 200 all-purpose yard mark, this time with 211. Last week, in winning the
OFC & CJFL Offensive Player of the Week awards, Beau amassed 325 total yards. Beau is also the 1st OFC player this season to win POW twice (1 offense, 1 special teams). Beau will look to continue his Player of the Week streak Saturday with a home game vs. the Twin Cities Predators, game time is set for 7:30 pm at Alumni Field.
