“I am currently on my fifth year of playing football. I played at Clarington for 4 years, (second year pewee, first and second year bantam and first year junior varsity) and am now playing at Oshawa (second year junior varsity). ” explained Mitchell Brake. “I’ve won offensive lineman of the year twice, and MVP the following two years.”

Though he plays in Oshawa, Brake’s favourite memory came in Clarington.

“The highlight of last year would be winning the MVP, Sir Knight award because it meant that I had the respect of my coaches and my teammates.”

Mitchell has a lot of decisions ahead of him in football, and leans on a close support network.

“The most influential person in my life would be my mother, she has supported me in any decision I make and has given me all the skills I need in life. ” explained Brake, “For football, the most influential person would be my friend Josh. Josh and I have played football together for over three years, we’ve improved and learned new skills together. We give each other positive criticism and help each other improve as a player.”

Mitchell, though he hasn’t talked to universities, is planning for his future.

“I want a career in the electrical field. I am currently deciding between electrical engineering/university or electrician/trades.” Said the 6’3, 270 pound lineman.

Brake is currently working hard to make sure he can choose whatever path he pleases.

“Right now I go to the weight room after school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and have football Tuesday and Thursday nights. I plan on going to the gym more often on weekends and more during the week, but I am currently focusing on school ” added Brake. ” I plan on going to the gym more often and building more muscle mass. Also, I want to improve my speed and agility.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
