OMFL: Junior Varsity Storm outlast Bulldogs in ground control game

The Niagara Storm of the Ontario Minor Football League (OMFL) junior varsity division outlasted the Brampton Bulldogs to improve their season record to 2 and 4.

The Storms defence came up with a big 4 down turnover after the Bulldogs recovered the opening kickoff. The Storms offence then drove the ball down the field for the games first score. That really gave the Storm a lot of momentum and confidence.

The Storms offence had a really solid game controlling the ball. The ground game lead by an O-line that continues to improve. Graham Dowd, Zachary Godin and Benny Ferrera were outstanding running the ball. Also highlighted was a great throw by QB Jacob Droughan and an equally outstanding over the shoulder catch by Dylan Aguiar. Final score was 20 to 13 Storm.

Junior Varsity head coach Dave Richardson has this to say about the game: “We talked about focus all week long, and how we have to play at a high level of intensity for the whole game. That seemed to translate into our best over all performance this year. Offensively we controlled the ball and didn’t make the mistakes that have hurt us in past games. Defensively we still have to work on playing a little more discipline in our positioning and not give up the big play. We are a young team in terms of football experience, and it is great to see the kid’s improving every week.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
