OMFL: Steelers continue to dominate opposition

It was a winning week five for Hamilton Steel City Steelers Rep football. The Tyke team beat Mississauga 18-6. The Peewee team beat Markham 34-12, while Bantam shut out Orangeville 64- 0. The Junior Varsity team beat Orangeville 42-0 and the Varsity team won 64-0 over Ajax Pickering.

Last week, four of the five Steel City Steelers welcomed teams from Brampton, Cambridge and Orangeville June 12 at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

The Steelers Tyke team played the defending champions Brampton Bulldogs, with the Steelers scoring first on the second play of the game. Josh Omojafo ran for a 55-yard TD.

Both Brampton and Hamilton racked up more 100 yards on the ground, going touchdown for touchdown.

The Steelers stopped the Bulldogs in the final minutes to hold onto a 28-21 lead for the win.

The Pee-Wee Steelers were unable to take the lead against a tough Brampton Bulldogs team. The Steelers suffered their second close loss of the season 33-26.

The Bantam Steelers played the Orangeville Outlaws, scoring within the first moments of the game on their way to a 65-0 win.

The Junior Varsity Steelers continued dominating the gridiron with a 51-0 victory over the undefeated Cambridge Lions. The Steelers also entered the contest with a 3-0 record.

An explosive offensive line and receiving core throwing great blocks allowed the Steelers running game to have a tremendous day on the field.

Steelers running backs accounted for all seven touchdowns, with Mitch Atlee scoring four times and Daniel Petermann adding three more, the last on a 68- yard punt return.

The Steeler defence posted a shutout for the second time this season. The defensive line recorded numerous tackles for losses, three quarterback sacks and fumble recoveries by Mike Van Zeist and Daniel Fascione.

The defensive backs did not allow a Cambridge completion and Jesse White came up with a timely interception.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
