OMFL: Steelers win all 4 games at Ivor Wynne

Steelers Football Club hosted 4 games at Ivor Wynne Stadium this past weekend that saw all Steelers victories.

The tyke Steelers team ( 6-8 YEAR OLD) played the Brampton Bulldogs in the first round robin action ON Sunday with the Steelers winning the competition 18-6 .

The second game for the tykes saw a tough hard fought battle right to the end against the division leader Mississauga Warriors . Steelers tie up the game in the last minutes of the game, on the ensuing kickoff the Warriors ran the ball back to the Steelers 5 yard line 30 seconds left in the game the warriors pressing to score fumbled the ball and recovered by Josh Omjafo and ran it all the way back to score a 105 yard td to give the steelers the win 12-6.

The Steelers Tykes are headed for Championship AUG 6 9:00AM Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke.

JV Steelers

After finishing the regular season first overall with a perfect 8 – 0 record the Junior Varsity Steelers entered the first round of the playoffs hosting the Orangeville Outlaws this past weekend at Ivor Wynne Stadium. The Steelers dominated both sides of the ball coming away with a convincing 51-0 victory over the Outlaws from Orangeville – with the offense scoring on their first play from scrimmage and the relentless defense not allowing a single point – the Steelers continue to look unstoppable as they continue their quest for the OMFL Junior Varsity Championship.

The offense was led by quarterback Matthew Metcalfe who threw for 3 touchdown passes to three different receivers (Quinn Spera, Sam Catterson and Daniel Petermann) and ran for another, while running back Mitch Atlee rushed for two of his own. The defense had numerous QB sacks, recovered a few fumbles and also got in on the scoring with defensive back Miki Pichler picking off an Orangeville pass and returning it 70 yards for a Steeler touchdown. The Junior Varsity Steelers will face the Brantford Bisons in Semi-Final action this weekend at Ivor Wynne Stadium – 4:00PM Sunday.

The Steelers Varsity team played their last regular season game against the Halton Hills Crimson Tide

Saw the Steelers stellar defense man handle the tides offence keeping them off the score board and giving the Steelers offence great field position all game . the Steelers Offence struggled the first half getting into the end zone with the score 7-0 halftime proved to be when thing started to click and went up and down the field scoring three more times for a 28-0 final .This now makes the Varsity team first overall in the division and a perfect 8-0 record.
Halton will be returning to Ivor Wynne Stadium July 31 at 7pm for the leagues semi- final play-off game which will be another great game.

The Bantam Team played their final regular season game on the road playing the Mississauga Warriors .

Its never an easy game playing in Mississauga but our Steelers managed to finish their season with an almost perfect record of 7-1 beating the warriors 57-24 and first overall in their division. The Bantam Steelers will play TNT at Home in league semi-playoff game July 31 at 1pm at Ivor Wynne Stadium
