In a game that had no impact on the playoff picture the Storm came out flat. After a promising first drive that ended in a missed field goal, the offence never really played with much passion after that. The defence struggled to overcome the heat and stop the running game of the TNT.
The turning point of this game was the lack of passion and desire displayed by the Storm starting with players forgetting equipment and jerseys. We displayed a sense of defeat before we ever got on the field. Akeeno Williams had a TD reception in the loss. TNT 28 Niagara Storm 6
Coach Don Moses had this to say about the game. “I was very discouraged by the teamβs lack of desire, swagger, and display of fundamentals. We go back to TNT this Sunday for the semi final playoff game. I expect a different outcome as we will revisit our play with some intense practices this week. We are better than they are and the TNT of New Tecumseth better prepare as the Storm is coming!”
The two teams play again in the first round of the playoffs this Sunday.
Junior Varsity
The first drive of the game to get us out of the shadow of our goal line was impressive. Nathan Dalton played inspired ball as he has done all year on defence and offence. Dryden Berketo made some outstanding big plays on offence. Kurt Wichert, Dylan Hill, Nick Campanella, Ronan Lupien and Taylor Richardson played well when called upon. TNT controlled the game and won 46 to 7.
Coach Dave Richardson had this to say about the final game of the season. “Not the way we wanted to end the season! TNT wanted it more and it showed on the field. You have to play at a high level with consistency and we could not do it on Sunday. Too many mental errors and too many missed tackles. Overall this year it was a learning experience for both the players and coaches. Its laid the foundation with a good core of returning players for next years team and on behalf of the JV coaching staff, I want to wish the players that are moving up to Senior Varsity next year the best of luck! Your hard work and leadership will be missed!”
