One Cambridge Wolverine team is still perfect


With three games left in the SOFAL football season, three of Cambridge’s eleven teams entered the weekend undefeated. Only one emerged with their won loss record intact as the Tyke White Division Wolverine red team defeated the green Wolverines 13-0.

The win gives the greens their first loss of the season, while the reds go into the last two games looking to be perfect. The reds go into Guelph this weekend to defend their perfect season, while the greens head to Brantford to take on the Brantford Bisons.

The third undefeated team, the Atom White Division Wolverines also lost their first with a 33-14 loss to Guelph, dropping their record to 4-1-1. They go to Kitchener this weekend to challenge to Twin City Warhawks.

In other action the peewee Green Wolverines defeated the gold peewee’s 22-6 in Cambridge vs. Cambridge action. With the win, the greens improve to 5-1. Both teams take on Brantford at Jacob Hespeler Secondary School this Saturday, The Green’s play Brantford Bisons 1 squad at 2:00, while the golds play the #2 Brantford team at 4:00.

The Tyke gold squad lost to the Twin Cities Warriors 16-12, while the Atom Red division team lost to Brampton 25-6. Both teams play in Mississauga this weekend.

Cambridge Wolverines White Division green squad continue their push to the playoffs with a win over the Twin Cities Warhawks 55-0.

The Wolverines put up points early with a touchdown by Jack Moore. They kept control of the ball with a fumble recovery by Nate Stainsby which led to another Wolverines touchdown by George Monaghan.

Wolverines kept the points up with another touchdown by Monaghan and Devin Keeling two-point convert. Ryley Dunn was also in for a touchdown with another convert by Keeling.

Wolverines finished the first quarter ahead 34-0 with a touchdown by Chris Branco.

The second quarter continued to be dominated by the Wolverines with a touchdown by Nate Stainsby. The half ended with a interception by Monaghan.

The Wolverines offence kept up the momentum in the third with a touchdown by Thomas Martin with Ryley Dunn kicking the convert. They finished the third with a touchdown by Brayden Hill.

The green Wolverines will take on the gold Wolverines this Friday night at 8:00 at Jacob Hespeler.
