ONT (CISAA): CFC#15 Saints head into playoffs undefeated

CFC #14 St. Andrew College Saints defeated the Villanova College Knights 38-21 this afternoon to finish a perfect 6-0 regular season (5-0 in conference). Every member of the Saints roster played significant minutes today, including backup quarterback Cam Valardo who led the offence for the majority of the 2nd half. It was a great opportunity for everybody to play a role in an overall team victory.

CFC TOP 100Β quarterback Chris Merchant was once again outstanding today. In just the first half, Merchant hooked up with star slot-back Ryan Keays for a total of 4 touchdowns and over 300 yards between the dynamic duo. Keays was also electric in the return game as he continues to build on his exceptional first season with the Saints.

Running back Jordan Carter added the 5th Saints touchdown, while Fraser Sopik was also exceptional in the Saints backfield today. The offensive line of Cody McMillan, Adam Ashby, Jon Harvey, Riley Fischer, and Duncan Robertson once again dominated the line of scrimmage.

Of note, John Polemidiiotis was given the chance to kick in place of Merchant this afternoon, and he finished a perfect 5 for 5 on PATs and nailed his first career field goal.

The entire defensive roster played major minutes throughout the game, particularly in the 2nd half. As mentioned above, it was great to have every player contribute to the victory.

The top ranked Saints will host the # 4 seed St. Michael’s College Kerry Blues on Friday in a CISAA semi-final. The Kerry Blues dropped to 4th in the standings following their defeat at the hands of the TCS Bears this afternoon. In pursuit of a 3rd straight CISAA championship, the Saints will be ready for their arch-rivals on Friday.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
