ONT (CISAA): CFC#15 Saints advance to finals, will meet Blues for title Wednesday

CFC #15 St. Andrew’s College Saints defeated the St. Michael’s College Kerry Blues 37-23 in a CISAA semi-final Friday afternoon. The victory improved the Saints overall season record to 7-0 and propelled them into the CISAA championship game. The Saints will host their arch-rivals, the UCC Blues on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm. It will mark the 4th consecutive year that the Saints and Blues have met in the CISAA championship game. The Saints will be in search of their third straight championship.

Running back Jordan Carter led the offence today by rushing for over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns. Fullback Fraser Sopik was also outstanding and pounded several tough yards on the ground. Slot-back Ryan Keays added a crucial touchdown in the 4th quarter to seal the win for the Saints. CFC TOP 100 Slot-back Zach Marcus was also stellar in crucial moments this afternoon. CFC TOP 100 quarterback Chris Merchant was able to make several huge plays with his arm and his legs and led the offence with poise and precision.

Defensively, the entire unit battled an explosive Kerry Blues offence throughout the afternoon. The defence was at their best in big moments, including a crucial stop following a turnover on the Saints 30 yard line. Going into the game, the defence knew they faced a difficult test and they ultimately rose to the occasion to help secure the victory.

Wednesday’s game will be the most difficult challenge the Saints have faced all season. The UCC roster is loaded with explosive playmakers and tremendous speed and skill. This game promises to be everything a championship game should be.
