ONT (LOSSA) Preview: Classic rivalry between Titans & CFC Top 50 Saints

Both schools are 1-0, both are Catholic, both want to be in the talk come Metro Bowl time, can you spell rivalry?

Holy Trinity Titans is coming off a blowout win over Eastdale while CFC TOP 50 Paul Dwyer Saints is coming off a huge win over defending LOSSA champs Donald A Wilson. The Titans are looking to gain an identity for themselves after the Eastdale game did not prove much due to the level of competition. The Saints on the other hand  were thrown into the fire week one and came out on top. Both want to prove that they are legitimate contenders in the LOSSA and OFSSA races and a win will do that for one of these teams.

The Saints key weapon is quarterback Drew Poddle. Additionally, a strong Titans secondary will need to stay disciplined in order to cool Dwyer’s red hot passing attack, and force them to run into the teeth of a very good Titans linebacking core. The Holy Trinity defensive line must stay disciplined in pass rush, covering the rush lanes as the Saints signal caller has shown a potent dual threat ability. The Saints are very good on offence to say the least, this will be the first true test for a Titans defence that is eager to showcase its skill

On the other side of the ball the Titans look to have another strong game against a very good Saints defense. Led by linebacker Drue Moore, this defence is not interested in riding the coat tails of their high powered offence, they instead want to prove that they too can compete at the level of the their offence. The Titans once again must get something going on the ground and improve in the run game also. The Holy Trinity rushing attack looked great against Eastdale, but can they replicate the results against a more competent Saints defence?  The answer of that will be a major key to the game

There is a lot of animosity heading into this Saturday’s showdown of probable LOSSA heavyweights after the semi final game that saw the Titans come back from a huge deficit and block a last second field goal to end the season for a very good saints team. Paul Dwyer will be looking to prove that the game and comeback was a fluke and that they are a better team than Holy Trinity. The Titans on the other hand will be looking to prove that they are the same team that showed the heart and character  to win that game in the November mud, or even better. To pick a favourite would be near impossible, the only sure thing is that this will be a great game with big hits, lots of heart, and a tonne of character, all of which will be needed to win this game.
