ONT (LOSSA) Recap: Holy Trinity slides to 3-2 after loss to Trojans

Another week, another fruitless performance for a Holy Trinity offence that started the season looking very competent in the first three weeks of the season. The Titans offence was held out of the endzone for a second straight week, and subsequently the Titans lost for a second straight week. In a defensive battle it was the Titans defence that would get on the board, giving the Titans their only points of the day when they recovered a fumble in the endzone. Pickering’s offense was effective enough with a running back turned quarterback leading the charge.

The game would start bad for Holy Trinity as Alex Olay fumbled to give the Trojans the ball inside Titans territory. The Trojans would later find the endzone after a time consuming drive when Darnell JarrettĀ  would go into the endzone on a quarterback run. The rest of the quarter would turn into a somewhat of defensive battle, bothĀ  teams sustainedĀ  long drives but neither could score. Both defences often bent in this game but very rarely did they break. The Game would be 7-0 Trojans heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter saw Titan punter Johnny Codrignton punt a ball that would yield problems for the Trojan return man, as he was brought down at the one yard line. On the next play the Titans defence would take matters into their own hands as linebacker Wyatt Roeloffzen recovered a fumble in the endzone to tie the game up at 7. The half would end with neither separating themselves.

The third quarter would play out as much of the game already had; long drives but no points. The defences would bend and bend but a break would not come until 2:19 left in the third. That’s when Kesean Bennett would find the endzone on a sweep play. The PAT would hit off the cross bar to keep the game within 6 points.

The fourth quarter had no scoring but plenty of excitement, as both teams would sustain long drives but score 0 points. The Titans would have a chance to go down the field and win but drops and penalties would kill the drive before it could really even start. The Trojans would then run out the clock and leave the Titans scratching their heads after dropping two straight after a 3-0 start.

The Titans still have a shot at a bye week, but face a must win against defending LOSSA champs Donald A. Wilson. Pickering is playing St. Stephens.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
