ONT (ROPSSAA): Ravens on a roll

The St Roch Ravens have begun the 2013 season with  some early success.

St. Roch  travelled to Kingston to play Regiopolis Panthers in a Friday Night Lights exhibition game on Sept 6th and took in the Queen’s vs Windsor game on Sat Sept 7th.  The Ravens defeated the Panthers 49-10.  Kyle Gouveia threw 5 touchdown passes  – two to Nick Adeyeye, two to Nathan Walker and one to Tyrique Smith. Holden Malcolm and Neil Harris also had Rushing touchdowns for the Ravens.

St. Roch 2

On Friday Sept 13th , St Roch hosted its third annual exhibition under Friday Night Lights . This year the opponent was Bill Crothers from Markham. The Ravens were victorious with a score of  49-12 . Holden Malcolm rushed for 358 yards and two touchdowns . Nathan Walker had a receiving touchdown and Neil Harris Harris and Mickey Valcius added rushing touchdowns. Nana Asuboteng  led the seconday with two interceptions.

In the regular season opener, the Ravens defeated the Notre Dame Knights 36-8 Neil Harris had three touchdowns while Holden Malcolm added a major. Gouveia found five different receivers throwing for 204 yards in the victory.  Winston Blake and Kene Oneyka were forces on defense pressuring the quarterback and coming up big stopping the run.

The Ravens travel to Bolton this Friday to take on the St Mike’s Thunder.
