Laurier found an Ontario commit while scouring the Alberta recruitment pool.
Kennedy Ilodigwe, a defensive end from Earnest Manning High School, is returning to his home province after committing to the Laurier Golden Hawks.
Ilodigwe’s career is relatively young. He has only played for three years, one with the St. Brother Andre Cardinals (York Regional Athletics Association) and two with the Ernest Manning Griffins in the Calgary Senior High School Athletics Association.
The 6’5, 220lbs player, who plays as a defensive end and defensive tackle, is from Markham, Ontario, though is currently living in Calgary, Alberta. “I’m originally from Ontario, so it just feels like home,” Ilodigwe said of his new school.

Beyond the familiar atmosphere, he is also looking to challenge himself. “Wilfrid Laurier has some of the best defensive linemen in the league and all of them told me to be the best, you need to play against the best and Laurier gives me that opportunity,” the young football player said.
“Also, I wasn’t looking for a really big school and Laurier is smaller and really locks in on the success of students,” he added. He is currently looking into a general studies degree.
Ilodigwe also said he is impressed with the coaching staff, who he described as being great. “As soon as you walk into the locker room, you get the feeling of family. The coaches really care about the students a lot more in the class than on the field, which is important,” he said.
