Ontario (Durham): Week five recap “Shepley & Bennett lead Titans to upset victory”

Touchdowns by Mike Shepley and Holden Bennett enabled the Titans to send the Gators to their first regular season loss in over three years.Β  Shepley’s fifty-three yard run in the first minute opened the scoring while Bennett’s three yard pass reception restored the Titans lead after CJ Stephens had tied the game with a twelve yard run.

The Rebels. trailing 7-0. stormed back with five touchdowns to pick up their first win of the season.Β  Chad Cleverton with two touchdowns (his first on a fake punt was 50 yards) led the Rebels who also had touchdowns by Trent Mugford, Ethan Shields and Jeff Wilson.Β  Kyle Kelly, with a ten yard run, scored the Talons touchdown.

The Celtics remained undefeated despite the fact that the Eagles defense limited them to only one touchdown.Β  Sanjay Francis tallied all seven points for Sinclair including his sixth major in four games.Β  Ben Donnelly accounted for the Eastdale points with a field goal and a single.Β  The Eagles remain tied for third with St. Stephen.

Β Trey Campbell’s two touchdown effort propelled the Red Hawks to their third straight win following an opening week loss.Β  Dylan Hall added a touchdown while Brendan Costello converted all three majors and added a single.Β  Darby Bradley posted the lone Royals touchdown while Matt Peter’s added the point after.

The Monarchs scored three first half touchdowns to hand the Rams their first loss of the season.Β  Austin Benn’s two touchdowns were sandwiched around a 31 yard pass interception touchdown by Alonzo Addai..Β  The Monarchs season long shutout streak endedΒ  when an errant snap to the punter resulted in a two point safety touch.

Callen Hagemen with three touchdowns and four converts paced Uxbridge to their first win of the season as they moved into a tie with both Notre Dame and Richardson, each with one win.Β  Deshaun Jordan with two touchdowns, both on kick off returns, recorded both Cougar touchdowns. Brett Webster also scored a major for Uxbridge.

Β The junior Gators, led by the two touchdown effort of Jordan Grimes, avenged an opening week loss at the hands of the Titans with a convincing 25-10 victory.Β  Both Daiten Rhone and Trae Wright supported Grimes, each with a touchdown.Β  Zack Elson with a quarterback keeper picked up the lone Titan touchdown in the final minute of play.

Uxbridge (1-4) 42, Bowmanville (1-3) 28 Two touchdown efforts by Sam Valarie, Daniel Vierra and Erich Milne powered the Tigers into post season playoff contention.Β  Valarie and Vierra each added two point converts for the winners.Β  Brendan Goldsworthy, whose older brother Tyler, plays for the number one ranked McMaster University, tallied four touchdowns for the Talons.

Aiden McKenna once again starred for the Royals as he followed up last weeks four touchdown game with a three touchdown effort against the Red Hawks.Β  John Irwin also picked up a touchdown.Β  Liam Jose, with two majors, and Julio Oliveros with a convert replied for O’Neill.Β  The Royals remain tied with Ajax for second place.

Trey Humes, who missed the Rams second game of the season, recorded his third three touchdown game of the season as he unleashed runs of 3, 35 and 15 yards in the first half.Β  Quarterback Omon Edobar was on the receiving end of an option pass for six while Geovani Modeste closed out the scoring in the final minute of play.
