Ontario Football Conference “Players of the Week” Week 2

Outstanding Offensive Player of the Week
Derrick Hurst – Receiver – Windsor AKO Fratmen
Derrick collects the offensive award in his first game as a Fratmen. The OFC rookie hauled in 5 passes, three of them for touchdowns. The Amherst grad’s longest catch and run was 42 of his total 123 yards as the AKO Fratmen defeated the hometown London Beefeaters 30-6.

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Week
Drew Morris – Linebacker – Ottawa Sooners
Drew is the second Sooners linebacker in as many weeks to capture the defensive honours. The OFC rookie defender led all with 23 defensive points on 10 solo tackles, one assisted tackle and one fumble recovery as the Sooners defeated the visiting Brampton Bears 27-24 in overtime.

Outstanding Special Teams Player of the Week
Brody Essery – Returner – Burlington Braves
Brody returned three Hamilton kick offs for a total of 107 yards. Two came after touchdowns; the other on the opening kick off gave the Braves favorable field position. Averaging 35.7 yards per return and adding a 15 yard punt return helped the Braves defeat the Hurricanes 28-14 on their home turf.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
