Week One


Outstanding Offensive Player of the Week
Joel Martinez – Receiver – St Leonard Cougars

Joel captured the offensive award this week although his Cougars lost a squeaker 25-23 to the hometown Ottawa Sooners. The 6 foot 200 pound veteran hauled in 7 passes for 109 yards. His longest catch and run was 25 yards. Two of his completions were for touchdowns.


Outstanding Defensive Player of the Week

Ron Omara – Linebacker – Ottawa Sooners

Ron led the Sooners’ defense in a come from behind 25-23 victory over the visiting St Leonard Cougars. He had 15 total defensive points including 5 on special teams. Ron was credited with 4 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles and a fumble recovery.


Outstanding Special Teams Player of the Week
Andrea Federico – Kicker – Ottawa Sooners

Andrea scored 8 points as the Sooners came from behind for a 25-23 home victory over the St Leonard Cougars. He was good on both convert attempts and 2 of his 3 field goal tries of 45 and 32 yards. His 4 kickoffs travelled 189 yards for a 42.25 yard average.
