Ontario kicker looks ahead to UCONN

UCONN was too hard to resist for Michael Tarbutt.

Recently, the 6ā€™0, 177 pound kicker from Grimsby, Ontario verbally committed to the NCAA Division 1 school after receiving a full scholarship,

ā€œWhat led me to commit to UCONN was everything about the environment; the place is simply amazing to say the least,ā€ explained Tarbutt of his decision.Ā  ā€œThe facilities and academics are top notch and I believed that UCONN set my future up better than any other school.ā€

ā€œThey have been #1 on my list for the last while.ā€

This fall, Tarbutt completed his final season with Canisius Crusaders, a high school in Buffalo, New York.

Moreover, the kicker/punter has suited up for the Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

With his future decided, the Ontario kicking sensation can now focus on playing as the recruitment distractions have subsided.

ā€œThere is a huge relief off my chest now that the decision has been made,ā€ said Tarbutt.Ā  ā€œI can just go out on the field and do my thing without worrying who is in the stands.ā€

As he has realized his ultimate gridiron dream, it is not lost on the Ontario standout of how he reached this pinnacle in his career. He is truly appreciative of all those who have supported yet motivated him in his quest to achieve his all his goals.

ā€œI want to thank my parents for believing in my dream, Canisius High School for making my dreams a reality, and all of my coaches I’ve had,ā€ expressed Tarbutt.Ā  ā€œAlso, thanks go to my current coach Sam Watts who I have been working with since the offseason.ā€

Tarbutt is looking forward to joining the Huskies and hopes to make significant contributions in future years to come.

ā€œI believe I’ll be able to contribute and fit in to the program nicely in a lot of ways,ā€ added the Ontario kicker.Ā  ā€œWhatever the team needs me to do or whatever the coach needs me to do, I’ll be prepared for it.ā€
