MDV started its season on a good note defeating the Gonzaga Bulldogs 28-6. On offense, Shayne Allard lead a balanced attack by rushing for 1 touchdown and passing for 2 others.
Brendan Dominey scored 3 TDs, however, 2 were called back due to penalty, including an 80 yard reception. The defense shutdown the Bulldogs for 3 quarters before giving up a late touchdown. Nicholas Corbett made a couple of bone crushing hits and Kevin Dimarco made a number of tackles. Both Andre Ashmeade and Ivan Staloverov had a good game kicking the ball and Djordje Stoiljkovic added a big hit on specials teams. Grade 9 QB Trevor Metcalf and grade 9 RB Jonny McEachern ran the option to perfection in the 4th quarter.
