Ontario (Peel): St. Marguerite d’Youville Panthers dominate the St. Roch Ravens

On Friday, October 5th, the d’Youville Panthers were impressive once again, pounding the St. Roch Ravens 38-0 on the road.

d’Youville’s defense is yet to allow a single regular season point.  They were extremely physical, and only allowed one first down all game.  The Panthers also made 7 tackles for big losses, and stopped 3 fake punt attempts.  d’Youville linebackers Damian Halstead, Marcel Ugoh, Nakas Onyeka, and Jonas Venne looked very well prepared for the game, and were able to adjust to stop the Ravens’ spread offense.  When the Ravens attempted to throw the ball in the first quarter, d’Youville CB Cordelle Walden made his second interception of the season on press man coverage.  Panthers CB, Bryce Hines also added an interception in the third quarter.  The Ravens could not figure out how to move the ball on what is considered to be one of the best and most relentless defenses in the league.
On the other side of the ball, d’Youville’s explosive double wing offense ran for 396 yards on the ground.  With great offensive line blocking, FBs Damian Halstead and Nakas Onyeka were able to expose the Ravens right up the middle on 22 carries for 105 yards.  Offensive line captain Ryan Mendes once again took charge by blocking downfield throughout the game.  Also, RB Jadon Johnson ran for 192 yards, on 12 carries, and scored 3 touchdowns, to help his team secure the win.  Other Panthers running in for touchdowns were RB Kadeem Moses and QB Dwight Henville.  Kicker Emmanuel Esho added 3 points from 28 yards out.
On special teams, d’Youville R Bryce Hines had 74 yards on 3 returns, and CB Cordelle Walden recovered an onside squib kick on a kickoff.
The St. Marguerite d’Youville Panthers look like a very well prepared and polished team this year.  They showed that in their exhibition season going 3-0, and now they find themselves at the top of the north division in Peel at 3-0 in regular season play.  Next week the Panthers have a bye, but they get back to work on Thursday, October 19th, when they host the St. Mike’s Thunder at 2:00pm

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
