Ontario (Peel): St. Marguerite d’Youville Panthers smash the St. Mikes Thunder

On Friday, the St. Marguerite d’Youville Panthers hosted the St. Mikes Thunder and continued their impressive season with a 64-0 win.Ā  The Panthers came out of the blocks early and welcomed the Thunder to tier one with some tough smash mouth football.Ā  d’Youville dominated the game on both sides of the ball.

On offense, RB Jadon Johnson was a monster, running for 354 yards and 5 TDs. His cutbacks through traffic and ability to break free of tackles were nothing short of amazing. Much of his success was the direct result of outstanding blocking by d’Youville’s offensive line led by captain Ryan Mendes.
On defensive, the Panthers were relentless getting to the quarterback 7 times.Ā  LBs Marcel Ugoh and Nakas Onyeka both recorded 3 sacks, while DB Darnel Downey also recorded one. St. Mikes couldn’t move the ball on d’Youville and were forced to punt on many occasions. Panthers safety Akeem Foster had two big interceptions, with one of them going all the way back to the house for 6 points.Ā  The Panthers defensive line and linebackers all played a solid game and stopped the run easily.
CB Bryce Hines had 4 punt returns for a total of 135 yards, and also stepped in at QB in the third quarter and scored a touchdown on a sweep.Ā  He also completed a 40 yard pass in the fourth quarter to TE Michael Smith which led to a touchdown by FB Nakas Onyeka.
d’Youville kicker Emmanuel Esho added 12 points to the board, 7 of which were extra points, 1 point was a punt for a rouge, 3 points came from a 27-yard field goal, and 1 point was awarded on the opening kickoff when he bombed one through the end-zone.
Once again, St. Marguerite d’Youville looked to be a really impressive and solid team.Ā  Defensively, the Panthers have yet to give up a touchdown this season, and offensively they seem to be able to move the ball at will.Ā  With the win d’Youville improves to 4-0 in regular season, which gives them the top spot in Peel’s North division.Ā  Next Thursday the Panthers travel to Cardinal Ambroziac to take on the River Hawks at 12:00pm

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
