Alexandre Poulin started playing in 2010 with Symmes Jr. High School.

In 2011, the defensive linesman played with both Symmes Jr. High and the National Capital Football Association’a (NCAFA) peewee Gatineau Vikings.

In both 2012 and 2013, Alexandre went back to the Vikings as well as the Selection Outaouais MU15.

The Vikings opened a bantam Quebec Provincial level in 2014.  He received MVP during that stint. That year, he also played for the Bel-Air Lions, who won the “A” Cup Championship.

This year Alexandre is back with the Lions, as well as playing with the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) over the summer with the Cumberland Panthers, although, he ended up leaving the team to return to summer school.

During the offseason, the Lion trains at Optimum Athletic Performance, which is a position specific training gym held by the University Ottawa Gee-Gee’s alumni.

Alexandre also trains at Canadian Strength, where the personal trainer has developed a program for him that focuses on maximum strength, speed and endurance for his position.

Moreover, he runs outside and practices skill sets with the “ladder,” old tires and cones.

Alexandre’s goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) simple.

“To continue improving under the guidance of the coaching staff and hopefully to be recognized as a really good player and secure a scholarship,” says Alexandre.

Overall, he credits the game for teaching him a couple of things.

“Football brought me out of my shyness and taught me the value of being part of a team with determination and both setting and reaching goals,” explained the Lion.

When it comes to role models on the field, he looks up to NFL stars JJ Watt and Ray Lewis, who he thinks are incredibly skilled and have killer workout programs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
