James Smibert has been playing the sport for two years.

This past season with St. Aloysius Gonzaga Bulldogs of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA), Smibert tried quarterback position for the first time.

During the offseason, the Bulldogs’ standout is training with the mass amount of force in the shortest amount of time to reflect how the game is played.

ā€œAs a quarterback to improve my football ability I do several different things,ā€ explains Smibert. ā€œI work on my footwork and my drops, I throw at trees and through tires to work on my accuracy.ā€

He also throws weighted balls, long tosses baseballs for arm strength and does arm care exercises to keep himself healthy.

ā€œIā€™m going after power instead of strength,ā€ added the Bulldog.

The quarterback has one specific goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).

ā€œMy primary goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge is to see where I am at compared to my fellow peer group,ā€ said Smibert.

Smibert is passionate of the sport because he likes the hard work, proving people wrong and managing his game. He also enjoys what it takes to prepare for each game, building strong relationships with his teammates and having fun while playing.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
