Mac Giles first hit the gridiron playing in his hometown during his grade five year, and is now in grade 10 playing for the Campbellford Flames of the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletics (COSSA).

During the offseason, the tight end hits the gym with the Brouwers brothers – former university defensive end Alex and Michael, who is a middle linebacker for McMaster Marauders. They teach him how to get faster, tougher and have better stamina.

As for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), Mac hopes to impress and achieve success.

“My goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge are to make the team and show people that I’m not just another football kid,” said Giles. “I want to get my name out there, be noticed and show people how good I am.”

The Flames standout  also wants to find himself on the CFC 100 list, as he sees it as an honour to be listed alongside other great young athletes. Winning the football championship is also on his list of goals.

While there are many things Mac is passionate about when it comes to playing the sport, one thing stands out amongst the rest.

“I love the game, the tradition, the fans, the love and support and especially that brotherhood,” explains the Flame. “It’s a big part of me and it always will be.”
