Today CFC features Kingston Grenadier linebacker David Hron.

School Status as of September 2013: Grade 12

Current Team(s): Kingston Grenadiers and Regiopolis-Notre Dame CHS Panthers

The Ontario Prospect Challenge is calling for Ontario’s best football players to compete for a spot on the Top 100 Players in Ontario list. It is a great opportunity for players of all ages and levels to have some of Canada’s best coaches train and evaluate their play. Linebacker David Hron is excited about the opportunity to shine in front of his peers and coaches.

“I chose to participate in the OPC because I like new challenges, I like to compete with other athletes and I like to make people who don’t know me to remember me.” Says Hron.

Hron has an impressive football resume so far. He has played in both Europe and North America and has to adapt to different rules and styles of play. “When I came to Kingston two years ago, it was an extreme challenge for me,” Says Hron. “The new environment, rules, people and so much more. All I had on my mind was that I wanted to play football. With all the success there were also many mistakes that came along with it and I am thankful for those mistakes because they’ve made me a better player.”

Hron has already participated in one OPC event and will hopefully come out to more tryouts. “I didn’t just take this challenge & tackled it as hard as I could, I think I got even a little bit more out of it,” Says Hron. “Playing high school football against some really good teams in KASSAA was one thing, but competing against the best athletes in the province in the OVFL was something completely different.”
Hron has seen a lot of success with both the Grenadiers and the Panthers. This past season with the Grenadiers, Hron tallied the most defensive poitns out of all of the grade elevens who were also on the team.
“My goal for the OPC is to be ranked amongst the top 5 linebackers in the nation, learn something new, meet new coaches and players and make people to remember my name,” Says Hron.

Tryouts (Phase 1) for the Ontario Prospect Challenge begin September 21st.  A ‘one-time’ tryout fee allows you to compete in as many tryouts as you wish.   CLICK HERE for registration information.
