Six years ago, Jaiden Hyland entered the gridiron world, but did not take it seriously until high school when he realized he was actually talented.

Jaiden has played with the Northern Red Knights of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA) and spent two years with the Toronto Jr. Argos of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

Last summer, the running back/slotback played in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) with the Metro Toronto Wildcats.

“In the off season I’m in the gym on my grind,” said Jaiden. “Just over the summer I’ve gained 10 pounds coming up from 180 to 190.”

“I’ve also spent time just working on my route running and catching abilities to be a better all around football player.”

His goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to go out there and show them what he has. As well as, show them that he can compete with the best.

When it comes to continuing on in the sport, the Knights’ standout hopes to end up at either Wilfrid Laurier University, University of British Columbia (UBC) or St. Francis Xavier.

“I love nothing like I love football,” commented Jaiden. “I want to play it for the rest of my life, football is my passion.”

“It’s a game that brings people together and brings out the best (or worst sometimes) in people. It’s truly a great sport.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
