Yanick Mainville, also known as Frenchie, started playing as a wide receiver at the tyke level.

He then made the move to quarterback at the senior tyke level.

In his first year of mosquito, Yanick played as a defensive linesmen and backup quarterback, and in his second year he was the starting quarterback.

During his time in the sport, he has won MVP for offensive player and a Brockville Youth Football Association (BYFA) spring championship.

He now plays with the Rideau Youth Football League (RYFL) RedBlacks.

During the offseason, Yanick goes to various training camps, like EndZone Football Camp, and does various training at home to improve his running resistance.

He also works on his strength and participates in school teams to get in excellent physical condition.

“My goals are to prove that I have the skills to be a part of the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) team and to be key player representing OPC,” said Yanick. “Also [I] would like to get noticed for future chances at getting drafted by scholarship.”

In the future Yanick hopes to play for the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, McGill or Syracuse.

“I like the athletic challenge of playing football and team building aspect,” commented the RedBlack.

On the gridiron, he has a few idols for different reasons such as Henry Burris for going to a new team and being successful. Moreover, he also looks up to Kalonji Kashama for going to EndZone, coaching him and giving him one on one time to help him improve his skills. Robert Griffin III is a role model because he started his career as a rookie starting quarterback and proved that if you have a dream and believe in it, you can make it happen.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
